Ba Bao Cha is often considered a welcome drink, served to visitors as a gesture of hospitality and friendship. It's this tradition that inspires our annual Eight Treasures release to coincide with the Mid-Autumn Festival, where friends and neighbors gather together to watch the harvest moon rise in full. This holiday is best known for its iconic mooncakes, beautifully patterned pastries filled with red bean, egg yolk, or lotus paste. Mooncakes are notoriously heavy, making light, bright Ba Bao Cha a natural accompaniment.

The recipe for Eight Treasures, or Ba Bao Cha, varies by region, made up of dried fruits, flowers, and leaves chosen not only for their flavors, but for their corporeal properties. Steeped, each element is believed to create balance and harmony in the body, promote digestion, cooling, and in some ancient tales, eternal youth and beauty.

Song's Eight Treasures is blended in-house from a mix of Longan, Astragalus, Goji Berry, Tangerine, Red Date, Red and Golden Osmanthus, Monkfruit, and Rose Petals. Traditionally prepared in a large gaiwan, Eight Treasures is meant to be brewed multiple times, and is particularly delicious steeped hot, then cooled overnight in the fridge.

Each box set contains 4 single use portions of Eight Treasures.
